The White Horse has an enviable reputation for superb food. With its AA 2 rosette grading, standard of organic local and seasonal cuisine, 18 year granting of the Wine Spectator Award and over 600 wines to choose from, it has been commented by some of our guests as one of the UK top restaurants. We feel honoured to hear this as we want to provide you with a relaxed environment, excellent cuisine and great choices in food and wine. We look forward to sharing our passion with you.
Guests can dine in the laid up restaurant, or in the more rustic bar area; both of which are non smoking and have open fires

Enjoy locally caught sea bass, partridge and grouse and many other seasonal and organic specialities, delivered to our door daily.
Menus change frequently but we show below the choice available in a sample menu. We have also selected a particular wine for each dish, in case you'd like to experience a range of wines. Saturday's menu is a la carte (with soft piano music), Sunday's includes a selection of roasts.

Special Events and Celebrations
The White Horse has a long-held history of great, quality celebrations and very special events, whether it be a birthday, anniversary, memorial or reunion - for all ages. You can hire out the whole restaurant and bar (seating 50), or just the Mouton Room (seating 16); alternatively, you can have a marquee in the garden (seating up to 120), complete with our nine bedrooms. You can also arrive by helicopter! Charles is known for the quality of his special events; and is always happy to hear your ideas to make it personal. We have many years experience in organising the finest details and hope to create a warm relaxed atmosphere for your celebration.

The Chilgrove Cuisine Club
In April 2006, award-winning Chris Richards joined the Chilgrove White Horse.
Chris has over 20 years experience in a range of prestigious London restaurants including 'Rules', and has received a number of awards, including three Michelin 'Bib Gourmands', the Remy Martin Restaurant Award and in earlier days, a Gold Medal in the North West England Team Grand Prix British Open.
His love of creating menus that are clean on the palette using fresh, organic and local produce fits in exactly with the philosophy of the Chilgrove White Horse. As Chris says, "I believe in changing the menu regularly; keeping favourites, but giving guests the opportunity to savour new seasonal tastes".
As part of the Chilgrove Cuisine Club, Chris will be sharing his expertise to treat our guests to:
- A series of menus designed around food and wine from different regions of France, and
- Specialist cooking demonstrations, such as bread making, filleting fish, and creating flambé dishes.
Please note: The bar and restaurant are closed Sunday evening and all day Monday. Accommodation is open seven days a week.
